“Because Jesus is risen, the Gospel renews, unites and compels us.”
The Gospel renews us.
The Gospel message is first and foremost a truth claim about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This message changes everything. It restores how we relate to God and the world. In the Gospel, we find true life, purpose, and hope.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come.”
The Gospel unites us.
The Gospel unites imperfect people from different backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities into the family of God. As the body of Christ, through grace, he has given us gifts to glorify God and to meet the needs of others. There is beautiful diversity yet incredible unity in Christ.
“You are loved and chosen, set apart in him for him and for the good of the world.” (1 Peter 2:9)
The Gospel compels us.
The Gospel gives us a calling bigger than ourselves to love and serve the good of the world. We have been so blessed in Christ that we go out into the world to bless others. We seek the peace and prosperity of the city so that all would flourish because everyone bears the image of God.
“You are the salt of the earth and you are the light of the world. ” (Matthew 5:13-14)
