WELLS NOT FENCES
Jesus is ouR center
At Risen, we often talk about being a community shaped more like wells than fences. Fences are built to define who is in and who is out. They create clear boundaries, but they can also keep people at a distance. Wells work differently. A well creates a life-giving center that draws people toward it.
We believe Jesus lived this way. People from all kinds of backgrounds, stories, doubts, failures, and experiences found themselves drawn toward him. Jesus did not compromise truth, but he also did not make belonging dependent on having everything figured out. He invited people to come near, to drink deeply, and to discover life in him.
There are good and necessary boundaries in any healthy community. But the Church has sometimes become better at building fences than digging wells.
At Risen, we want Jesus to be our center. Our hope is to keep digging Jesus-shaped wells, creating spaces where people can belong, explore, ask honest questions, encounter grace, and increasingly orient their lives toward Jesus and his way of life.
VISIT A SUNDAY SERVICE
In our noisy, hectic, and divisive world, we are invited to experience the presence of God through song, Scripture, prayer communion and community. A deeper and fuller life is formed when we connect with God's presence and one another.
(OUR LITURGY)
Our liturgy follows the same basic pattern that most Christians have worshipped throughout history. We encounter God through singing God’s praises, reading and proclaiming the scriptures, responding in prayer and confession, offering ourselves to God in thanks as we celebrate The Lord’s Table, and are sent out with a blessing to be a blessing.
